All about Aussie indies!

Let's talk indie games!

G'day indie game fans!

Did you know I'm Australian? No? I'm Australian! We have a small, but mighty game industry and this week is Melbourne International Games Week, which celebrates all things Australian gaming. It also happens to include PAX AUS. The ultimate celebration of games!

Like many of you (I'm assuming), I'm not enjoying the fun in Melbourne this week, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun too!

Instead of sharing new releases this month, I thought I'd feature some awesome Aussie indie games and upcoming demos recommendations.

Recently I've been playing... Moonlight in Garland

Are you ready to start a new life in the bustling metropolis of Garland? Start by renting an apartment (a choice of 4 buildings) and finding your way around in the big city.

Moonlight in Garland is in early access, but there is already so much to find and do! Choose how to spend your days; Make friends or fall in love, nurture your house plants, get busy taking photos of wildlife, recycling trash and cleaning up graffiti, and that is before we get into mini games and events!

Early access also means there are bugs, but Violet (the dev) is doing her best to squash them. She updates the community weekly in her Discord with all the updates and fixes she is working on.

I am loving this unique idea for a life sim!

Awesome upcoming Aussie game demos!

Letters to Arralla

TBA

Get ready to play as the cutest mail turnip in town! Deliver mail to the interesting town folk (also fruit and vegetables), learn more about them along and maybe improve their lives.

This demo is super cute! Like Lake, but you're a turnip. Definitely on the wishlist for me!

Wood & Weather

TBA

Take control of the weather and inspire citizens to fulfil their life aspirations in this wooden block world.

Play as an ethereal blue hand and fly, walk and manipulate the world.

Oh, and there is fairy bread and lamingtons! (The best Australian treats)

Trash

TBA

Literally a game full of garbage. Build your character out of junk and gain abilities to help explore and survive the world.

I played this solo, but there is multiplayer. It looks like it'd be a lot of fun to work together with friends and learn what happened to the humans.

Less than 10 - Every Hue of You

Did you know that the majority of games released each week have less than 10 reviews? That is hundreds of games with reduced visibility on Steam! Let's change that with this featured game.

Twyla is struggling with the death of her mother and the pressure of taking over her jewellery shop. She doesn't think she'll ever be as good and she is drowning in grief. In Twyla's world, that is even worse than it sounds. In her world, emotions manifest in nature. Twyla's sadness is causing a never ending downpour which could cause chaos for the people around her.

There is hope though. Twyla discovers she is a conduit and can enchant jewellery with the emotional energy of her customers. Could this purpose be enough to settle the storm inside her?

Every Hue of You is a visual novel, which isn't typically something I enjoy. But, I'm intrigued to see where Twyla's gift takes her. I have also been enjoying the decision making to make the perfect piece of jewellery for each client.

Every Hue of You is currently 40% off on Steam. So it's an excellent time to give it a try.

Do you know a game with less than 10 reviews? Reply and tell me about it!

You've made it to the end of the newsletter! There are heaps of Aussie games I didn't get to mention in this months newsletter. Do you have an old favourite or upcoming release I didn't mention?

Until next time,

Sarah

Let's talk indie games! Hello indie gaming friends!October was a pretty relaxed gaming month for me. I am part of two monthly gaming clubs, Geeks and Grounds and The Cozy Gaming Club (Discord link), but for October I wasn't playing either of their games. One I wasn't interested in (Signalis - let me know if you think I should play it) and the other I've already played (Night in the Woods), so this meant I was free to play whatever I liked. As I'm sure you know, sometimes making a decision...

Let's talk indie games! Hello indie game fans!Have you seen the Steam Summer Sale?! I'm sure we all have. Over the weekend I made the mistake of checking out my Steam wishlist to see what was on sale. It felt like everything was on sale and I got a bit of decision paralysis. So, I thought for this month I'd focus on games I love that are currently discounted on Steam, and hopefully you'll find something new to love! Which brings me to my favourite game of last month! Recently I've been...

Let's talk indie games! Hello indie game fans!I'm dragging myself away from Stardew Valley to bring you this months email. I hadn't played it in five years, and now it's all I've played in the last week (or more). There is just so much more to do and find since I last played! Another Crab's Treasure has been calling but Stardew continues to win the battle. I plan on marrying Harvey, just in case you wanted to know. I've never married him before because, well, he just seems a bit dull....
