The first Find the Strawberry newsletter

Let's talk indie games!

Hello Reader!

Welcome to the very first Find the Strawberry newsletter!

November was a huge month for indie game releases. There were so many excellent games released, that it seems impossible to find the time to play them all. Fortunately, things are winding down a little in December, so we can all catch up with some of our favourites.

Recently I've been playing... American Arcadia!

Welcome to American Arcadia! The reality TV show that follows thousands of people who are unaware that their whole lives are purely for entertainment. Unfortunately, ratings are down and unpopular people disappear, and that means Trevor. Fortunately, he has Angela on the outside helping him escape before he disappears too.

American Arcadia is this amazing blend of gameplay styles, combined with a story that will make you think about how you consume media. We get to play as Trevor, in a side-scrolling world. But, also as Angela in a first-person world. If that isn’t enough, we also solve puzzles as Angela watching Trevor through surveillance cameras.

This is probably my game of the year, so I definitely recommend checking it out. You can find more info on the game in my review.

American Arcadia is currently available on Steam.

Less than 10 - Tile Lands

Did you know that the majority of games released each week have less than 10 reviews? That is hundreds of games with reduced visibility on Steam! Let's change that with this featured game.

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Tile Lands, a game that, at first glance, echoes the charm of Dorfromantik with your game board in the centre and tile pile on the right, but that is where the similarities end. In Tile Lands you place tiles to gain points. Each tile has its own conditions. Place them favourably and you'll earn more points, as well as unlock new tiles. You can even place tiles on top of already placed tiles and potentially earn even more points.

Tile Lands is a great game for when you want to zone out for a while. Once you understand what the conditions of each tile are, then it's easy to find spots to place them. It's also a little rewarding when something new happens like three towns turning into cities.

You've made it to the end of the first newsletter! I hope you found some new games to wishlist and play.

Feel free to reply and let me know what you thought and if there is anything else you'd like me to cover!

Until next time,
